Hydrochloride acid produces….. Metal chlorides.
In acid….. Blue turns red.
In alkali…. Red turns blue.
In naming salts what come first? The metal comes first.
Neutralisation reactions produces…. Salt and water.
Nitric acid produces…. Metal nitrates.
Sulferic acid produces….. Metal sulfate.
What are acids and alkalis? They are special solutions which are chemical opposites to each other.
What are bases that are soluble in water? Alkali.
What can also react with acids? Metals but they produce salt and hydrogen gas.
What does corrosive mean? That a substance can cause burns if they get on your skin.
What does the danger of an acid/alkali depend on? The type of acid/alkali and its concentration.
What does the pH scale measure? How acidic or alkaline a substance is.
What is a base? A compound that can react with an acid to make a neutral this is called neutralisation.
What is a concentrated solutions? Lots of acid and alkali in a small amount of water.
What is a dilute solution? Not many acid and alkali in a large amount of water.
What is a general rule? The more concentrated the solution the more dangerous it can be.
What is a neutral solution? If a solution is exactly between the line of an acid and alkeli.
What is acid on the pH scale? Less than seven.
What is alkali on the pH scale? More than seven.
What is litmus paper? A type of indicator, can be blue or red.
What is neutral on the pH scale? Exactly seven.
Why would use an indicator? To find out if a substance in an acid or alkali. Indicators are usually a dye that turns different colours depending on the substance.
Zinc + sulfuric acid=? Zinc sulfate + hydrogen.
