Different types of dispersal are…. Wind, animal, water or explosion.
How do the sperm form semen? By mixing with nutrients and fluid from the glands.
How do you germinate a seed? Use water for it to swell and the embryo to grow, Oxygen for respiration and transferring energy, Warmth to help speed up the reactions to the plants.
How does fertilisation happen with plants? The pollen nucleus joins with the ovule nucleus-fertilisation takes place and a seed is formed.
How often is an egg released? Every month.
The 3 main parts of the uterus are… The placenta, fluid sac and umbilical cord.
What are some changes in Femal bodies? Breast development, Periods start and ovaries begin to release eggs and hips widen. Body hair grows, body odour, emotions and growth spurts.
What are some changes In male bodies? Voice breaks, sexual organs develop, testes start to make sperm and shoulders widen. Body hair grows, body odour, emotions and growth spurts.
What do the ovules of a plant become? Seeds and are dispersed away from each other and from the parent plant.
What do the testes do? They are where the sperm is made.
What does the Anther do? Produces the pollen.
What does the cervix do? Entrance to the uterus.
What does the egg travel through? The oviduct into the uterus.
What does the Filament do? Holds up the Anther.
What does the Ovary do? It contains ovules.
What does the ovary do? Eggs mature here.
What does the oviduct do? Where the egg is fertilised before travelling long the tube to the uterus.
What does the Penis do? Used to place sperm into the vagina.
What does the scrotum do? Keeps the testes outside the body where the temperature is a few °c cooler and better for sperm development.
What does the seminal vesicle, prostate gland do? Both supply nutrients for the sperm.
What does the sperm duct do? Carries the sperm from the testes to the urethra.
What does the stigma do? It’s sticky so it can catch pollen.
What does the style do? It holds up the stigma.
What does the uterus do? Also know as the womb-the foetus develops here.
What does the vagina do? Receives sperm from the penis during sexual intercourse.
What happens if a sperm meets an egg? Fertilisation happens.
What happens in 1 week of pregnancy? Cells beginning to specialise-just a dot.
What happens in 4 weeks of pregnancy? Spine and brain forming, heart beating-3mm long.
What happens on day 1 of menstrual cycle? Blood from uterus lining leaves the body through the vagina.
What happens on day 14 of menstrual cycle? An egg is released from one of the ovaries (ovulation)
What happens on day 5 of menstrual cycle? Bleeding stops-uterus lining begins to regrow.
What happens when the egg is fertilised? It can then implant into the uterus lining and form an embryo (ball of cells)
What is a condom? A thin layer of latex rubber that prevents semen being released into the vagina.
What is a contraceptive Pill? A daily tablet that contains hormones it prevents pregnancy by stopping ovulation.
What is adolescence? The time during which you change from being a child to being an adult.
What is cross pollination? Between two different plants.
What is ejaculation? When semen is released into the vagina.
What is it called when a seed starts to grow? Germination.
What is puberty? The changes that happen in your body form ages 9-14.
What is self pollination? Between the female and the male parts of the same plant.
What moves the egg towards the uterus? It is moved along the oviduct towards the uterus by the cilia.
When can pollination occur? Due to insect or wind.
When does fertilisation of the ovule occur? When pollen transferred from the anther to the stigma.
Where does the pollen nucleus move down? The tube.
Where does the tube grow out of? The pollen grain and down through the style.
Which part of the flower is the carpel? Female part of the flower.
Which part of the flower is the Stamen? Male part of the flower.
Why do the seeds disperse? So they have space and they don’t compete.
